Divorce / Family Law

Seeking Common Ground in Your Divorce Action

At G. Phillip Deeb, Jr., P.S.C., in Louisville, Kentucky, our practice has been devoted to family law for three decades and has allowed us to resolve problems through litigation and alternative dispute resolution methods including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Custody, Parenting Schedule and Visitation — G. Phillip Deeb, Jr. views child custody, parenting schedules and visitation issues as some of the most important aspects of his family law practice. Children do not merely require financial assistance from their parents. Children need for their parents to be emotionally available and to spend quality time with their parents.
  • Child Support — G. Phillip Deeb, Jr. will assist you in the calculation of child support. In some instances, child support may continue in Kentucky after a child attains the age of 18 years if the child is attending high school. Children in Kentucky who have attained the age of 18 years, but are unable to support themselves due to mental and/or physical disabilities, are entitled to continue receiving child support from both of their parents.
  • Spousal Support (Maintenance/Alimony) — In some instances, a spouse may be entitled to receive maintenance (spousal support). The standard of living during the marriage is an important factor in determining the amount of maintenance. We may employ a certified financial expert to assist us in determining the proper amount of maintenance to be paid.
  • Division of Property — At G. Phillip Deeb, Jr., P.S.C., we pay great attention to detail in addressing the restoration of non-marital property and creating an equitable division of marital property for our clients.
  • Paternity — At our firm, we help fathers who want to be involved in their child’s life and the mothers who want support for a child born out of wedlock. DNA testing is available to establish or confirm paternity.
  • Stepparent Adoption — If you want to adopt your stepchild, we will assist you with the adoption and the voluntary or involuntary termination of parental rights of the parent who will be giving up their rights to their child. Stepparent adoptions are a very rewarding part of our family law practice.
  • Collaborative Law/Alternative Dispute Resolution — Collaborative family law provides an alternative to combative and emotionally devastating litigation in court and promotes divorce with dignity by providing you with access to attorneys and experts who are trained in the collaborative process to assist you in resolving issues pertaining to children, property and financial matters through a series of settlement conferences. Why put important, life-changing decisions in the hands of a judge who may be well intentioned, but is a stranger to your family?
  • Domestic Partnerships — For same sex and unmarried heterosexual couples, we can help prepare agreements to provide for the division of property should the relationship end. We also prepare Living Will Directives in which you may appoint your partner to make health care decisions for you in the event that you lose decision making capacity during periods of serious illness, and we prepare Last Will and Testaments in which you may bequeath and devise property to your partner.
  • Recovery Of And Exposure To Awards of Attorney’s Fees In Divorce and Other Family Law Litigation — A party to a divorce or other family law matter may be entitled to recover an award of attorney’s fees and costs from the other party based upon a substantial disparity in the parties respective financial resources.
